But to be honest, it's a pretty awesome zoo and the price is almost (*almost*) worth it for the spectacular view across the Sydney harbor and the diversity of animals they have there. They have over 2,500 animals on over 52 acres (thanks Wikipedia) and I'd say in five hours I still saw maybe three-fourths of the whole place. So it's definitely an all-day event.
Most people get to the zoo by taking a ferry. I think it was a shorter ferry ride than the Manly one, but it still has great views and it was nice to get on the water anyway.
For me, the highlights of the zoo were the elephants. They're Asian elephants, so a little smaller and grouchier-looking than their African counterparts, but they had baby elephants that were super-cute.
The snow leopard was also insanely beautiful. I WANT ONE
